Chile's route to the final

Copa América 2015: Chile's route to the final in Santiago

Chile have managed to cope under the pressure of being hosts to make it all the way through to the final.

Their campaign in Group A started with a 2-0 win over Ecuador, Arturo Vidal getting the first from the penalty spot.

The midfielder wheels away in celebration after breaking the deadlock in the 66th minute.

Eduardo Vargas wrapped up the points with a second in the closing stages.

The statistics show that Chile dominated possession in their opener

Mexico proved tricky opponents in the second round of matches, holding Chile to a 3-3 draw.

Matías Vuoso scored twice for the Mexicans, who stunned the home crowd by twice taking the lead.

Vidal celebrates scoring the second of his two goals on the night, though his side had to settle for a point.

Jorge Sampaoli's side dominated the statistics, but Mexico claimed a share of the spoils.

Charles Aránguiz bagged a brace, his first coming in the opening minutes, as Bolivia were put to the sword in their final group match.

Gary Medel scored the pick of Chile's goals in the 5-0 rout, chipping the ball over Romel Quiñónez.

Chile's emphatic triumph meant they went through as winners of Group A, meaning a
quarte Santiago.

Chile peppered the Bolivia goal, firing in 18 shots, although only six were on target.

Uruguay were their opponents in the last eight, and a bad-tempered game saw the reigning champions reduced to nine men.

It seemed penalties would be needed to decide the outcome, that was until Mauricio Isla popped up with a late winner.

The unlikely goalscorer is mobbed by his team-mates after putting La Roja into the last four.

Uruguay's brave defensive display could not see them through the full 90 as they conceded with just nine minutes to go

Chile saw semi-final opponents Peru reduced to 10 men after 20 minutes, Carlos Zambrano given his marching orders.

Vargas was the hero for the home team, netting a goal in each half to secure a 2-1 victory and a place in the final.

The striker's second was a superb strike from long range, dipping over Pedro Gallese and into the far corner

Once again, Jorge Sampaoli's side dominated the statistics as they booked their place in Saturday's final against Argentina.
